National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is in West Nile where he is expected to commission the newly rehabilitated and expanded 200-bed strong Yumbe Hospital.
By its newly achieved standard, the hospital has also been elevated to the Regional Referral status. The hospital expansion includes the construction of a newly expanded Out-Patient Department (OPD) complete with Laboratory, Radiology and a Pharmacy.
A new Accident and Emergency Unit complete with a minor theatre has also been erected. A new Operation Theatre of 3 Operation Rooms up from the initial one operation room before expansion and 3 Delivery Suites.
There has also been addition of New Wards including the Maternity Ward that has been facilitated with 40 Beds, the Female Patients Ward (40 Beds), Male Patients Ward (40 Beds), Pediatrics Ward (40 beds) and the Isolation Ward with 32 Beds.
The Regional Referral Hospital also has a Private Wing with private OPD and a 26 Bed Ward.
There has been construction 38 new staff housing units and an Interns Hostel for 20 interns. This is in effort to boast the welfare of the medical workers that strive each day to better the health care of Ugandans.
A new refrigerated mortuary for 20 bodies was also established at the Health Facility and a Mini- Bus procured for the Hospital. It is to be used for outreach programs to take health services closer to the communities.
