Yesterday we revealed that President Museveni’s press conference which is taking place right now at State House Entebbe would be a channel to announce the closure of schools and public gatherings.

Today at exactly 5pm the president started the press conference which is being aired on all television and radio channels across the country.

The President has ordered that with immediate effect, and by Friday 20th midday all schools, universities and other tertiary institutions around the country be closed and the students sent home. He said the closure will last for the next 32 days from today.

“We have resolved to close all education institutions; primary & pre-primary secondary and universities for one month starting on Friday at midday. All these institutions should close so that we deny this virus the concentration,” said President Museveni.

Transportation being one of the sectors where the virus can spread most, the president has orderd all the students to go back home before any Coronavirus is reported in the country.

The number of students in schools, universities and other tertiary institutions is about 15million. On top of the closure of the schools and universities, the president has also ordered for a ban of weddings, funerals and other gatherings that hold a big number of people.
