The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Police Fire Brigade department have kicked off investigations to bring to light the cause of the fire that ravaged Grace House in King’s College Budo yesterday.
The fire which we have since established started at 6:40 am while students were in morning prep, ravaged the dormitory that was housing S.1 and S.3 students.
According to the Deputy Director of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services, Mr. Hassan Kihanda, his team handed over the crime scene to the investigators immediately, who started off with their job.
“Many security bodies including the CID and Fire Brigade are here to establish the cause of the fire. We have preserved the scene to allow them carry out investigations.” Mr. Kihanda told the press.
According to Kihanda, no student was injured or killed in the fire but a lot of property was destroyed by the fire.
The Namirembe Diocese Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, who rushed to the scene asked government to carry out fast investigations and make the report of the findings public.
“Many times we have seen fires in schools and markets, but we have never received any report.” Bishop Luwalira said.
King’s College Budo is a prestigious Church of Uganda founded secondary school in Wakiso District. The school boasts of a very rich heritage spanning over 100 years. It is a mixed boarding school.
