Police in the South Western Uganda district of Kabale have arrested a total of 14 locals for ‘conducting prayers in the bush,’ our snoops have learned.
According to the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Afande Elly Maate, all the 14 are from areas within Kabale Municipality and are members of Nyanikoni Word of Faith Church, a local congregation in Kabale.
“They were all found praying in Makanga Forest today (Wednesday) – a location that is a bit far from town at around 1pm and arrested.” Maate told the press.
According to the Police, there were more than 50 involved in the activity but some disappeared as soon as they sensed the Police from a distance. The fourteen people are going to be charged for disobedience of lawful orders and doing an act likely to spread an infectious diseases.
President Museveni, in March, banned public gatherings and ordered for the closure of churches and mosques. He has not yet communicated otherwise.
