The Kampala Metropolitan Police has warned residents and road users of planned check points in the City due to what they termed as “violation of curfew hours.”
Speaking to the press, the KMP Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, said that all vehicles in the city will be stopped at exactly 9:00PM which was set by President Museveni as the time beyond which no one should be outside unless authorised.
Afande Onyango says the Force has witnesses continued violation of a presidential directive and said that it is time that they reign in on culprits and enforce the directives of the President.
“Tonight (October 12, 2020), we are re-instating all curfew check points. Vehicles will be stopped at 2100hrs. We are witnessing people starting to violate the curfew hours. Today, plan your journey early” Onyango warned.
President Museveni declared mandatory curfew time between 9PM and 6PM as one of the SOPs to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus and prevent thefts within the period.
As such, only authorised persons such as medical workers and security personnel are allowed to move beyond the allocated time.
