The Democratic Party (DP) regional representative for Acholi sub-region, Justine Obol has lashed out at the Police and the army for disrupting the campaign processions of DP candidates.

“The candidates of the opposition have been attacked and even at the local level, the NRM uses state power and resources to block us. They prevent us from speaking to our people and delivering our message. What Ugandans need is a leadership that gives them better opportunities for growth and development,” Obol said.

He also added that the violence is segregated to only inflict only the opposition candidates.

Obol said that he predicts more violence to sprout as the country goes on in the campaigns and as they approach the elections in January 2021.

“We have seen people losing their lives and I predict that more violence shall happen in the remaining time. The security officers are acting on orders of people we don’t know. These men in uniform are our brothers and friends but the people ordering them are the problem. The violence might even go on even after the elections are done.” He said.

The regional coordinator revealed that the DP has written letters of complaint to the Electoral Commission (EC) and police but have since received no reply.
