After hours of deliberation at State House, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) pronounced itself on the fate of the candidates in the Speaker, Deputy race.
The top decision making organ of the party has resolved that all those interested in the position of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament be vetted.
With immediate effect, the party has said that expression of interest starts tomorrow at the party Electoral Commission offices on Kyadondo Road.
The party is torn between current speaker Rebecca Kadaga and deputy Jacob Oulanya who are both vying for the top position.
Among those interested in deputy speakership are Thomas Tayebwa, Anitah Among, Shatsi Musherure the daughter of Minister Sam Kuteesa and Jacob Oboth-Oboth, the Head of the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee.
