President Museveni has promised the people of Acholi Land that there will nolonger be load shedding in their area as soon as the new electricity transmission lines are completed.

Museveni, while addressing the people of greater Acholi on radio and TV on Monday night, acknowledged that he was aware of the load shedding in the region but said a lasting solution was being put in place.

“I have been told that power goes off a lot. This is because of the old transmission lines. But now we not only have new transmission lines coming up, but we also have more electricity.” Museveni told the people.

As regards the education sector, the President promised to roll out free education. Mr. Museveni acknowledged that the existing education system is not actually free, but rather subsidized.

“What we have is subsidized education, not free but our plan is to have free education. This is because our people that cannot afford to top up are left behind and they don’t benefit.” Museveni said.
