Following the exit of the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago from Democratic Party (DP) where he had been for over ten years and also registered as a life member for the party, many questions have possessed people’s minds bringing a hullabaloo over social media platforms.
Lukwago was unveiled yesterday (Tuesday) as a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) by the party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat at the party’s headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Entebbe Road.
In response to the questions and the noise forwarded towards Lukwago as to why he left his home party, MP Betty Nambozze cleared the air and blamed the ‘unfortunate’ incident on what happened due to Norbert Mao’s code of conduct who she says has become a dictator.
“I don’t blame my brother, all this is because of the DP’s president who thinks the party is owned by him. It is no longer a party for people. Once you are not utilized, always find a way to get your full potential”. Nambooze said on Tuesday night while appearing on NBS’ Barometer show.
The Lord Mayor, currently a member of FDC opened up to the public yesterday on the NBS morning Breeze Show and said that he joined the party majorly to associate with people of the same ideology.
“I have not come for material things in FDC, neither have I come for a meal card. I have always worked with FDC and its absolutely good to work with people of the same ideologies.” Lukwago said.
Norbert Mao briefly responded that DP is a party where there is free exit and entry and therefore he finds no offence in Lukwago’s exit.
