Mzee Kibalama Nkonge, the founder of National Unity and Reconciliation party (NURP) which later changed to National Unity Platform (NUP) after a consensus with Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine recently went missing from his home with all his phones switched off.
After thorough investigations and demand of Kibalama by family, relatives and friends, the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga has come out to speak about the matter.
“Kibalama’s life was very insecure and and it called for some extra security and there we had to improvise by all means to protect him for the case of the his safety.” Enanga said.
Enanga further said that Kibalama at one point had to change his telephone contacts because some unidentified people were bombarding him with calls of threats.
He said that Kibalama now possess a new line which he uses at his convenience to call those people he feels are essential and helpful to him.
“Nkonge Kibalama is very safe at his place in Buwambo Wakiso district, therefore if he is not communicating to you currently you are not essential to him” Enanga said.
Since last month Kibalama’s life has been in danger after transferring his party to Mr. Kyagulanyi.
The old man, who had been at the back of NUP defending his collaborations with Bobi Wine later made a U-turn and denied everything.
Basing on the video that circulated over social media last week, Kibalama declared he made so many ridiculous decisions in transferring the party to Bobi Wine and that one of them was accepting certain promises without double thinking.
Kibalama says he was promised a good consideration of $5m which coerced him to accept, an amount that the People Power camp has trashed.
“Kibalama was forced to say all this crap, reaching at the extent of saying I promised him money. This is all rubbish aiming at letting us down but we are growing stronger.” Bobi Wine said.
