Earlier this week, the Uganda Professional Pilots Association announced Esther Kyokunda as a Flight Instructor having successfully passed through all the required levels to achieve such an admirable feat.
Her announcement makes her the first ever female Flight Instructor in Uganda, a record that shall live on for generations to come. Kyokunda, who says this was a childhood dream admits that she is very grateful to God that she has made it.
“I was about twelve years when I saw the cockpit of a plane for the first time and talked to a pilot, that conversation changed my life goals, I just wanted to be like that pilot,” Kyonkunda recalled during an interview.
She gave a brief prediction of the state of the Aviation Industry in Uganda in the next few years. She believes that more people will join the industry and advised young people always to keep focus and pray because there is light at the end of every tunnel.
Ms Kyokunda says her job of a Flight Instructor, is to teach people how to fly planes.
She was born from Nsambya Hospital twenty five years ago. She studied at Kabojja Junior School and later joined Mary Hill High School in Mbarara for her ordinary level (O level). From there she joined Nabisunsa Girls School for her A’ level.
Straight away from there she joined Flight Training College in South Africa, and Vine Air flight Academy in Jinja where she was crowned from.
