Mbale City is all smiles after it received Shs 11Bn meant to construct some three roads within the newly created City.

A proper road network eases business in any area, but the suggested roads have, according to residents and visitors, been a menace to business progress in the new city.

The money was allocated to Mbale under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program to construct the three roads which are currently plainly bad whether in a rainy season or not.

According to James Kutosi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mbale City, the roads to be constructed are Naboa, Manafwa and Cathedral Avenue.

Kutosi revealed that they have received lots of letters from people of Mbale City threatening to hold demonstrations over the bad state of roads and this wouldn’t be called for since “seeking solutions is their responsibility as administrators in a city.

“We were however unable to repair those roads till now because we didn’t have monet but now that we have received money, we are going to work on them.” Kutosi said.

The PRO urged the City dwellers to be calm since a foundation step has been set for the facilitation of the roads construction.
