Independent presidential candidate, Joseph Kabuleta, has this morning made deep stinging statements directed to the incumbent President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni, of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Speaking on national television, on 6th January 2021, Kabuleta spoke about the materialization of the politics in Uganda saying that Museveni’s greatest fear is money.

“The one thing that Kaguta Museveni fears during elections is money because he knows if any candidate has more money than him, even vote-rigging won’t help him because people are so tired of him,” Kabuleta said.

“I know that this president will do anything to keep Ugandans poor,” he added.

Kabuleta also spoke about the funding of his campaigns, maintaining that he is not funded by any foreign source.

“Kabuleta is not funded from any outside source. It is all within the country, it is all internal and it is all people who have bought into the ideas,” he said.

The presidential candidate also revealed that he will scrap off the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax for people earning Shs 600,000 and below once he is elected into office.

”I will reduce taxes and scrap others. When it comes to the Pay As You Earn tax (PAYE), people earning Shs 600,000 and below will be exempted.”

When asked about the support he is getting from physical crowds as compared to other candidates, Kabuleta, whose campaigns have been minimal, attracting very small crowds of people insisted that crowds do not move him.

“Crowds aren’t a hard thing to get and they don’t move me. I prefer my message moving forward further than my personality,” he said.

Kabuleta seeks to unseat the 34-year ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) incumbent, Yoweri Museveni, alongside 7 other opposition candidates come January 14th 2021, which is little over a week from now.
