News reaching our desk indicates that married men in Lyantonde District in Western Uganda are selling relief food given to their families by the district task force for money to do other things.

Men are selling posho to buy matooke and some are selling to get money to buy alcohol and send balance to their side women. This has left most women and children crying of hunger and complaining that food never reaches their homes.

They have now resorted to spending most of their time camped at RDC’s office at district headquarters demanding for more beans and milk for their children.

“We received maize flour, we didn’t even open it. That evening my husband carried it away and returned drunk. My complaints fell on deaf drunk ears that night.” Joan Naiga, a local told our reporter in Lyantonde.

The Chairman LCV of the district confirmed these allegations that relief food was actually given out but men who received it decided to sell it out for their personal gains.
