In the recent days, political pressure group People Power has tried to hold consultations with their electorate in vain. Their leader, and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was arrested on sight wherever he showed up to consult.

Speaking at Capital FM’s weekly political talk show, The Capital Gang earlier today, city lawyer Mary Anne Nanfuka Kasule advised People Power to sit back and re-strategise to effectively set their priorities straight.

She said if their aim is to genuinely reach out to the people and talk to them, then that would be an impossible venture because President Museveni would never let it happen. But if their aim was to expose the impunity of the government, she advised them to continue doing what they are doing.

Ms Nanfuka alias Nanfy said that what People Power and Bobi Wine are doing can only go as far as keeping the President and NRM restless that will in the long run prompt them to make mistakes or stress President Museveni to an early demise.

“What Bobi Wine is doing is something that keeps the president restless, President Museveni can cheat an election but he cannot cheat nature. In his old age and fragile health, he must hate pressure and stress that People Power is mounting on him. So maybe he might die or decide that the pressure is too much and leave office.” Nanfuka said.

Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, himself a panelist at the show, faulted People Power for not following regulations set by the Police to organise such consultations.

“We have been with President Museveni on the #M7Trek and one of the first things we had to do before starting was to construct toilets along the way. Bobi Wine needed to at least organise mobile toilets for his consultations but he chose not to.” Mr Opondo said.
