Lake Victoria, the biggest fresh water body in Africa has attained the heighest water levels in recorded history according to experts monitoring the lake.

On 12th May 1964, Lake Victoria water levels reached a record 13.41m, a record level that had never been attained or surpassed in the years that followed.

However, at the moment, the water levels are now at 13.42m – the highest recorded lake level surpassing the initial record.

Our sources in the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd intimate that at the current levels, Nalubaale and Kiira Hydro Power Stations (HPS) are spilling water at 2,400 m³/s.

07/05/2020, Lake Victoria levels recorded 13.42M surpassing the highest recorded lake level of 13.41M on 12/05/1964. The water spilling is ongoing at 2,400 CM/Sec for both Nalubaale and Kiira HPS.
