Emily Nyinaneza, the 20 year old waitress that succumbed to injuries from the Saturday October 23rd, 2021 bomb blast at Digida Pork Joint in Komamboga, a Kampala suburb has been laid to rest at a Public Cemetery in Kirinya Bweyogerere.
The late Nyinaneza was taken to the public cemetery after no relatives showed up at the mortuary to claim her as their own prompting her friends and customers to step in to her rescue.
According to information that The Ugandan Wire has obtained, no one knew her beyond her name and none of her relatives could be identified or showed up to claim her body at the mortuary.
Nyinaneza’s nationality was speculated with some people claiming she was either Rwandan or Burundian.
Komamboga Diehards, the group that laid Nyinaneza to rest decried government’s silence in the matter saying they (government) had a responsibility to afford her a decent burial.
“Usually, government takes interest in such cases, funds the burial arrangements and sends condolence funds to the affected families. But we are disappointed that the government has abandoned a bomb blast victim and her friends have footed all the bills from the mortuary fees, transport fares, organizing the vigil and paying for the place to bury her in the cemetery.” Godfrey Muyimbwa, the spokesperson of Komamboga Diehards told the press.
