Police have revealed that 30 bodies have so far been retrieved from Kitezi, following a landslide at the Landfill.
According to KMP police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the team today retrieved six (06) dead bodies by 1730 hours making a total of 30 bodies so far recovered.
Those recovered have been identified as Hairati Natumanya 20 years, Lwere Ronald ( Kyakanyi Rymond’s brother), Owori Moses 03 years, Okello Richard 31 years, Alowo Jane 33 years, Achengi Jane 06 years.
Onyango revealed that the Registration Committee that was set up to register all the affected persons, houses destroyed and suspected homes that were covered by the garbage presented their preliminary findings, where 120 people were registered in the camp ( temporarily shelter) at Kiteezi Church of Uganda Primary School , play ground.
He noted that 39 people were registered as missing.. This include 35 who are community members (local residents) and Four ( 04 )are garbage collectors.
33 homes are suspected to have been covered by debris on Saturday 10 Aug. 24.
On Monday night, Police arrested five (05) suspects who were impersonating as victims of the tragic incident in Kiteezi and were aslo looking for compensation and relief items.
The 5 are currently detained at Kiteezi Police station on charges of impersonation.
