Reigning Uganda StarTimes Premier League champions, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC, also known as the Kasasiro Boys are happy lads today after ending the unbeaten run of their bitter rivals, Vipers Sports Club (Venoms).
The Venoms, who are table leaders were unbeaten from the first 13 games and have garnered 33 points. Their rivals KCCA have 4 games in hand after their unsuccessful exploits in both the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.
A first half strike from jersey 10 Muzamiru Mutyaba is what stood between the two teams and separated them until the last minute. KCCA have now resurrected their title hopes and with their 4 games in hand, can well topple Vipers from the table top.
This was the 20th time that the two sides met since September 2010. In the past 19 meetings, KCCA had won five, Vipers nine while the other five all ended in draws.
KCCA and Vipers drew 1-1 twice in their two league fixtures last season. Earlier this season, Vipers thrashed KCCA 2 – 0 in the FUFA Super 8 Final.
