Residents in Kabale Municipality are accusing electricity distributor UMEME Limited over unreliable power supply for the last two weeks.
The residents who depend on electricity claim that they are unable to do their work because of the unstable power supply. They accuse UMEME officials for failing to come out to explain the cause of unreliable power.
Michael Kwehangana, one of the operators of MC Super Saloon told The Ugandan Wire that they are suffering huge losses because of the unstable power supply.
He said that they have for the past two weeks been operating their business on generator which is costly.
The director of I.V Soft Phone Centre, Ivan Baine and Dondoro Kabale,
of Kabaya Dondoro Electronics who operate on Kabode Building also accuse UMEME officials of inflating the bills even when unreliable power supplies continue to haunt the consumers.
They fault Umeme for failing to explain to them why the power supply is unreliable and called upon government to intervene.
Efforts to get a comment from the Umeme Manager Kabale branch, Gyaviira Katongole Wokulira were futile as his known phone number was
off.
The Communications Manager Umeme Stephen Ilungole declined to
pick our repeated phone calls.
