Outgoing Kampala District Woman Member of Parliament (MP) Hajjati Nabilah Naggayi Sempala will be seeking the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer ticket for Kampala Lord Mayor, we can exclusively report.
Ms Sempala, a former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) senior member has henceforth joined the NUP after being bundled out of her former party by Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
“After the 2016 General Elections, I made the decision to run for Kampala Lord Mayor. You will recall that I attempted to run under my former party, FDC but I was blocked very unfairly. I then decided to run independent.” Ms Sempala began her declaration.
“As everyone knows, I have been on record for over two years now, supporting the candidature of Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert for President because I believe that he represents something new in our struggle to liberate Uganda. That is in part why I joined NUP as a member a few days ago.” She added.
She unveiled that earlier today, she took another step, following the reopening of nominations for the position of Lord Mayor by the National Unity Platform.
“I decided to fill the Expression of Interest forms and I will be presenting myself before the Committee for vetting. I am hopeful and reinvigorated! A new dawn for Kampala is in sight.” She said.
