Africa’s largest online retail and e-commerce centre, Jumia Uganda is going to start delivering products to all parts of Uganda. According to a statement from the company, customers will be able to pick up orders and make payments at the different Bata and Total Stations in the country.

According to the Country CEO Mr Ron Kazooba Kawamara, citizens across the country will need just the Jumia app and internet connection to experience online shopping that their counterparts in the Capital have enjoyed all this time.

“Jumia has expanded pick-up services to all districts of Uganda. Customers can now place orders and pick up from the closest Bata, Total Station, or Jumia Center!” Mr Kawamara said.

Total, a leading fuel retailer in Uganda has been active in exploration and production for over 50 years in the country and has over 160 service station across the country.

Bata, on the other hand, are one of the largest shoemakers in the world. Bata has shops across the country, and these too (along with Total Service Stations) will be used as Jumia pick up centres.

The initiative is part of Jumia’s mission to reach more customers outside Kampala, where the demand for product variety and affordable product pricing is relatively high.

“We have seen demand for our services in upcountry locations like Masaka, Fort Portal, Mbarara, Gulu, and Lira. Therefore, our expanded pick up station network with Total and Bata will enhance customer confidence and the adoption of e-commerce in 2020 countrywide,” Kawamara added.

Not to be left out, customers in Kampala shall also be able to pick up their orders from the nearest Bata Shop or Total Service Station alongside the already existing Jumia Centres. It won’t apply to upcountry users only.
