Former president for the National Unity and Reconciliation Party (NURP), that turned into National Unity Platform (NUP) after a coalition with Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s People Power, Mr Moses Kibalama Nkonge has confirmed to court today morning that he has been under detention for two weeks in Mbale under military protection.
“I was summoned by Gen David Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) who quizzed me about the changes in the party leadership”, Kibalama said while appearing before the court.
Kibalama who seemed very afraid implored the court to restore his freedom as any other citizen of Uganda as he explained that his life is in danger, and is “over protected” by unknown people.
Previously, a video where Kibalama was denying transfer of the party leadership to the Kyadondo East legislature and 2021 presidential hopeful circulated over social media.
In this video, Kibalama claimed to have been coerced and promised USD 5 million which he said he had not received yet. Today Kibalama has denied that video saying he was forced to speak all that was in the video.
Kibalama who was so timid during cross examinations in the court cried severely and begged for court to offer him protection because he doesn’t know what is happening to his life after the court.
People Power leader, Bobi Wine, said that even during the Court session Kibalama was being guarded by security officers casually dressed who never wanted him to be near Kibalama.
“Our former Party President, Mr. Moses Nkonge Kibalama just confirmed to court that he has been under detention for two weeks in Mbale, under military protection. He has asked court to help him regain his freedom. He says he was summoned by Gen. David Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces who quizzed him about changes in party leadership! He has disowned the video in which he appeared claiming that he was promised 5 million dollars to change party leadership. He appeared timid and even confirmed that even in the court room, are security operatives. He cried several times during cross examination.”
Bobi Wine.
He appreciated Kibalama for being honest and speaking the truth amidst all the intimidation. Kyagulanyi added that much as the oppressor is doing this to put them down, their strength is being hiked instead.
