Former Nation Media Group TV and Radio personality, Miles Rwamiti, has been accused of being double sided and being on the verge of defecting to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Rwamiti is vying for the post of Member of Parliament (MP) for Hoima East on the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) ticket.
The TV presenter turned politician has received extreme castigation for attending a ceremony meant for NRM leaders and members in Hoima district this week.
Rwamiti yesterday spoke out rubbishing these claims saying he has always been a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporter and he had only gone to receive blessings from the highly revered Bisaka.
“I come from Hoima district, Bunyoro region. I’m on the National task force for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Amuriat is my President. Yesterday, I had gone to coordinate party activities and distribute campaign posters to the people of Hoima,” Rwamiti said.
“I’m a believer, I had gone for prayers, I’m sure you know a man called Bisaka so I went to pray from there. I had gone there to be prayed for and talk to the man of god. Little did I know that they were launching their manifesto in the same place.” He added.
Bisaka is the founder and head of the Faith of Unity with its headquarters in Kapyemi, Muhorro Town Council Kagadi district.
Rwamiti added that these claims are meant to cripple the support he has in the region and he reassured his supporters he cannot deflect.
“I can never be associated with NRM or anything yellow. I’m FDC forever. I have not joined any other party, I had only gone to coordinate activities for my president. This has been planned to fail us, but as I speak right now we are ahead of everybody. I’m calling on the people of Hoima East to vote for Miles Rwamiti for the Hoima East MP seat,” Rwamiti added.
His castigation comes after several other opposition leaders and members in Eastern Uganda defecting to the NRM including the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for Kumi County Parliament seat, Twalib Osama whose change of party to NRM was announced yesterday 15th December 2020.
