Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, at a press conference in Kampala, has comfirmed that there is no community transmission of the novel coronavirus within the Ugandan communities.
Uganda, by close of business yesterday, had clocked 139 cases of COVID-19 much as more than half of that number have already recovered and been returned back home.
The Health Minister’s update however, comes after a team of health officials carried out community rapid surveys to test for coronavirus among people in lockdown.
The purpose of the rapid survey tests was to establish whether there is a community spread of the virus as the country efforts had been put on the boarders.
Consequently, the minister says Ugandans in lock down have not been transmitting the virus and the only threat as it stands, are foreigners and Ugandans coming in from abroad.
