Former Army Commander and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu and his party, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) have expressed interest in opposition talks for unity ahead of the 2021 Presidential and General Elections.
Addressing journalists yesterday, Mr. Wilberforce Seryazi the Party’s Spokesperson, maintained that the party is not against the ongoing opposition talks for unity in the election against incumbent President Museveni but were only unveiling a program for their internal processes.
The development came as the party launched its national roadmap for the forthcoming elections in which they appealed to supporters and interested members to pick nomination forms for the party flag in the elections.
“This is just to ensure the party is prepared ahead of the general polls. As a result, we shall be conducting our interim National Delegates Conference on 6th, August 2020 for the purpose of electing the Party Presidential flag bearer.” Seryanzi said.
People Power’s Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine and FDCs Dr Kizza Besigye are currently in talks to ensure that the opposition fronts an individual candidate in order to increase their chances of winning.
Speaking to the press yesterday, Kyagulanyi rubbished the Electoral Commission’s revised road map that calls for scientific campaigns for the election. He says it is a plot to take away the citizen’s rights to a free and fair election.
