The Director of Public Prosecutions Jane Frances Abodo, as earlier reported, has withdrawn charges against the 3 Nigerian artists who were yesterday sent on remand for staging a music concert in Uganda contrary to the Ministry of Health guidelines on the spread the COVID -19 Pandemic.

The artists  including a  23 year old Stanely Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, a 25 year old female Temilade Openyi alias Tems and their career Manager  Muliwa Awoniyi all residents of Lagos in Nigeria had been accused of  doing a negligent act likely to cause the spread of an infectious disease.

However today as the suspects were still in prison at Kitalya, the DPP sent a withdrawal letter dated today 15th December directing Makindye Chief Magistrates Court to release them immediately.

According to the law, DPP gives no reason  for his/her decision.

These 3 Nigerian nationals had been jointly charged with 4 Ugandan businessmen and the  organisers of the said music show Ivan Ddungu, Kisakya Phillip, Benjamin Kabuura and a woman Salima Kim who are scheduled to return to court tomorrow for purposes of hearing their bail application.

The DPP now accuses the four Ugandan nationals of having held a music concert last weekend with over 200 revellers at Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo – Makindye Division against the Ministry of Health guidelines on the spread of COVID -19.
