Dr Protazio Begumisa a former Commissioner for Internal Audit and Compliance is seeking better pastures in Parliament following the end of his contract at URA.
Even when he was asked to renew it, he opted for the parliamentary seat against the common face Wilfred Nuwagaba of Ndorwa East, a rebel M.P whose expulsion with 4 others had taken headlines back then in 2014.
Dr Begumisa has started with putting up posters with an appealing slogan “Muzahura wa Ndorwa” meaning Savior of Ndorwa.
Dr Begumisa started school from Kabale-Kyanamira and is an old boy of Kigezi High School. He attained a first class degree in Commerce (B.Com) at Makerere University, Kampala.
As a tutor of the CPA, he won a National Medal from H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and further organised ACOA hosting delegates from all over Africa (top economists). He started working under the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) within the same time.
In a period of 5 years under Allen Kagina, he got 3 promotions as Assistant Commissioner, Acting Commissioner General, then after Kagina’s regime was appointed Second in Command under CG Doris Akol.
He was warded an Honorary Doctorate from University of Birmingham UK.
“It’s after all those achievements in service this that the Doctor felt he should serve politically as any Ugandan citizen.” A close source to Dr Begumisa told The Ugandan Wire.
The announcement, makes him the second former URA Commissioner to declare intentions to run for MP after the former Commissioner for Domestic Taxes Dicksons Kateshumbwa declared ambitions to unseat Sheema Municipality MP and Science and Technology Minister, Dr Elioda Tumwesigye.
