The Independent Electoral Commission has come out give out their side of the story after numerous Ugandans pinned the Chairman of the Commission for excluding results from over 1200 polling stations in the final presidential elections vote tally.
The EC claimed that the candidate who was declared winner had obtained 50% of the valid votes cast.
“The EC considered the fact that the difference in votes obtained by the leading candidate and the first runner up would not be overturned by votes from the remaining 1223 polling stations”, EC posted on their social media.
Thousands of votes cast at some 1,223 polling stations countrywide were not included in the presidential election results that the Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Saturday, this website has learnt.
The most affected is Wakiso District where of the 1,434 polling stations, the EC final results excluded tallies from as many as 271, according to our analysis of the official results.
