President Museveni, has lived to his promise of readying the free government masks and distributing them to Ugandans within two weeks as the country eases lockdown measures to re-open and function normally.
While in delivering his 2020 Heroes Day speech at State House Entebbe, President Museveni observed that the COVID-19 war that the world is facing now doesn’t require guns and bullets but it’s a biological war that needs more of discipline.
He appealed to Ugandans to observe measures and guidelines laid down by the government in the fight against the virus because it is the only sure way to defeat it.
Speaking about the menace that was truck drivers in the fight against the coronavirus, Museveni said they were big contributors to the country’s cases but the interventions government took are helping reduce those specific cases.
“The distribution of masks will start tomorrow (Wednesday June 10th) and I have asked the authorities to prepare hospital facilities to handle upto 40,000 cases if we get there.” Museveni noted.
