The Electoral Commission (EC) has today issued a revised Presidential Campaign programme following the arrest of Bobi Wine and Amuriat Oboi and the protests that ensued after that.
Bobi Wine’s arrest brought a halt to the campaign proceedings of the opposition candidates who had to stop their campaigns in protest of misconduct by the Uganda Police, which they accuse of disrupting their campaign processions and brutalizing them and their supporters.
Bobi Wine was released from custody on Friday after being taken to court and charged with unlawfully engaging in activities that endanger the lives of the citizens with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bobi Wine is accused of flouting the standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as set by the Electoral Commission to protect citizens from contracting the Coronavirus.
The revised programme indicates that Kyagulanyi will wind his campaign early next year in Wakiso, while Museveni will conclude his in Kampala.
The Presidential Campaign Programme 2020-2021 changes every time one of the candidates requests Electoral Commission to adjust their schedule.
