The High Court of Kampala (Civil Division) has finally ordered Members of Parliament (MPs) to return the Shs 10Bn allotted to themselves as COVID-19 facilitation that saw each MP bag shs 20M.
Court has further given directions on how the money could be returned. In the Judicial review we obtained today, MPs can return the money back to the Parliamentary Commission, pay it to the district task force or to the National task force for MPs representing special interests.
The Civil Division of High Court halted the dispensing of the controversial 10Bn shillings to MPs by the Parliamentary Commission in a petition filed by the Ntungamo Municipality Member of Parliament, Gerald Karuhanga, a few weeks ago.
This comes after President Museveni dragged MPs for sharing the money, instructing them to channel it immediately to district task force on covid-19.
