President Museveni has suspended public transport in Uganda, in the wake of five more cases of COVID-19 announced by Ministry of Health today afternoon.
Mr Museveni has made the revelation just now while addressing the nation at State House, Nakasero.
The President believes that the measure will help control the spread of the virus that has since broken out of Kampala and Entebbe to register cases in Zombo, Iganga and Adjumani among others.
According to the president, the suspension on public transport will initially run for 14 days and government will weigh the impact that the suspension will have on the spread of the virus to reinstate or further the suspension.
“All public means of transport have been suspended for 14 days. This includes taxis, buses, costs, passenger trains, tricycles and boda bodas. Only private means will be allowed. Private cars will only be allowed to carry not more than three people,” Mr Museveni said.
Uganda has 14 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far.
