The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate for President, Robert Kyagulanyi is under criticism for endorsing a National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Koboko Municipality, Dr. Charles Ayume.
The Kyadondo East legislator made the announcement yesterday while canvassing support in Koboko District and other districts of West Nile like Maracha and Yumbe.
“I have studied Mr Ayume for a long time and he inspires me. I know he will not say anything good about me but wherever he is, tell him that I support him,” Kyagulanyi appealed to the people of Koboko in his address.
Dr. Ayume, is the son of fallen Former Attorney General Francis Ayume who died in 2004. Dr. Ayume defeated motor-mouth Junior Minister for Investment Hon. Evelyn Anite, the incumbent Koboko Municipality Member of Parliament by a margin of 768 votes.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) has no candidate for the Koboko Municipality MP seat in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
Bobi Wine is underfire by some critics and observers who do not fault him for endorsing a ruling party candidate but rather alleging that he was seeking popularity because he needed the people that love Dr. Ayume dearly to vote for him.
They maintain that to have support in Koboko, Bobi Wine needed to support Ayume and said that otherwise he would not have.
“Koboko! What can I say? The gate way to Koboko is broken and wide open. The people are yearning for change. They say they have been betrayed enough and are ready to take a stand. The new Uganda will see Koboko shine like a star! Awadifor.” Bobi announced on his social media.
Bobi Wine also endorsed MP James Achidri, an Independent NRM leaning candidate and FDC’s Oguzu Lee Dennis in Maracha.
