Kyadondo East legislator and 2021 National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential hopeful Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has said that President Yoweri Museveni’s recent remarks on the Arua incident will be used against him in the international Criminal Court (ICC).
President Museveni, while commissioning out Police trainees at the Police Training School in Kabalye, Masindi on Friday said that Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)’s elite outfit the Special Forces Command (SFC) acted professionally when they invaded Kyagulanyi’s hotel and beat him in a good way.
“President Museveni finally was able to utter out the truth without being coerced, I’m too grateful to the Lord”, said Robert Kyagulanyi while speaking at the NUP headquarters.
He added that the President’s remarks will be used against him in both domestic and international courts of law and that he is hopeful that the domestic courts will use this as evidence.
“Although I don’t have much confidence in the country’s courts of law, our legal team will try to take the matter to the courts in Uganda as well.” Bobi Wine further said.
Lots of citizens connected to Kyagulanyi’s People Power Movement were confined in the unfortunate Arua events including law makers, Kassiano Wadda, Francis Zaake and Paul Mwiru who were arrested in August 2018 for allegedly throwing stones at the Presidential convey, the detainees (according to their accounts) were tortured by security agencies during their time in jail.
To the worst, Kyagulanyi’s driver Yasin Kawuuma succumbed to death after being shot . Former Presidential aspirant and opposition strongman Dr Kiiza Besigye also joined Bobi Wine in the efforts adding that Museveni’s remarks will be used as evidence in his petition to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
