The Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, the Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe has implored churches to think about the use of mega phones to preach the gospel as the government is easing the lockdown restrictions across the country.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe noted that this will help believers and non believers to get the gospel through megaphones placed at church pinnacles both in authorized and non-authorized times in order to reach wider coverage.
He commended the role played by the mega phones fixed at St Mathews’ Cathedral Kyamate, Ntungamo before the outbreak of pandemic.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe hailed the government for reopening of places of worship saying that it mends the broken hearts of believers due to violence that marred NRM primaries.
He was assisted by the Dean St Mathews’ Cathedral Kyamate, the Very Rev Canon Joash Tushangomujuni among others.
In his preaching message in Ntungamo Municipality, the diocesan treasurer Rev Azaria Mwebembezi asked the believers to continue praying to God to take away the disease (coronavirus).
Rev Mwebembezi lauded Bishop Ahimbisibwe for being a visionary that introduced megaphones at Kyamate Cathedral which enabled the general public to receive gospel every morning, midday and in the evening hours.
He also appreciated the role played by the media since lockdown began, citing especially Radio Ankole and its management.
At Sacred Heart Ntungamo Town Catholic Parish Rev Fr John Baptist Tumusiime appealed to Christians to observe SOPs even at home not in churches only.
In all churches believers observed Standard Operating Procedures where chairs were marked with numbers though they failed to register worshippers.
