The High Court in Kampala has ordered the immediate restoration of National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi’s personal freedom, and that all security personnel surrounding his home at Magere in Wakiso District vacate with immediate effect.
Presiding Judge Michael Elubu has also restored Kyagulanyi’s wife Babra Itungo’s right to free movement and ordered the Attorney General to pay them costs incurred in prosecuting this application.
Justice Elubu further advised the State to follow the law if it has evidence that Kyagulanyi is a danger to society, but his continued detention at his home is illegal and an infringement on his personal liberty.
Last week, Kyagulanyi through his Lawyers petitioned Court seeking redress over house arrest which he was subjected to after expressing dissatisfaction in the just concluded Presidential elections.
