President Museveni has advised Ugandans to desist from public gatherings, including church services and mass, Friday mosque sessions among others and start praying from home amid the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Mr Museveni passed out that guidance in a televised address to the nation in light of the spread of the virus that has infected people in neighbouring countries Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya.
“I met with religious leaders and we agreed to suspend the gatherings in church and other religious institutions. We agreed that if the couple cannot extend their wedding, then it should only be attended by the few that matter.” President Museveni said in the address.
Ugandans are very religious people with recent stats showing that about 41% of the population are Catholic, about 38% Anglican, some 13% Muslim and other religions closely following.
