By Stanley Opolot We can’t deny it. Over the past several months, Africell Group has conducted a detailed assessment of the future of Africell UG and only came down to “Africell UG will stop services on 7th October 2021” (extract from an official letter by Africell Uganda.) While the Ugandan government has continually locked down the country in the name of curbing the spread of coronavirus, other countries refused to enforce such long excruciating lockdowns upon its citizens. The enemy’s trick is to show you one little devil and once you focus on that little devil, you attract other related…
Lt. Gen. Pecos Kutesa, a recently retired member of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has died in India. This is according to the UPDF Spokesperson Brig. Kutesa who earlier this month retired from the active service of the UPDF was last week admitted to a Nairobi hospital. Kutesa was one of the people who participated in the five year bush war that ushered the current NRM government led by President Museveni…
By Simon Ssenyonga Here we are again. The very place we were in 2019 with an apparent hope that things only get better by applying the same old tactics with hope that the “virtuous path” to defeating the pandemic is lockdowns. I know, I sound extremely skeptical but that’s because I am. In the words of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the recent address at the World Health Organization (WHO) summit, he noted that the hoarding of vaccines by the international community was very selfish but it also awakened us to the realization that we had to fight for ourselves.…
By Simon Ssenyonga Lights, camera, action! Let’s roll now. “Dear Countrymen and Women, since my last two updates, the country has seen a more aggressive and sustained growth of the COVID-19 pandemic as opposed to the earlier months of April and May 2021. Over the past 3 weeks, the daily number of people testing positive for Corona has increased from less than 100 to now over 1,700. This represents a 17 fold increase in daily cases. As a result our epidemic curve is now on steep rise with increased reports of deaths nationwide.” These were the words that preceded the…
The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine has warned that with the rising COVID-19 cases, some areas need to be urgently locked down if the second wave of the virus is to be contained. “It cannot be ruled out because for us life comes first, if the public has refused to take the measures in place, I think a lockdown is a way to go, some areas must be locked down unless people really get to observing SOPs otherwise we shall get overwhelmed,” Dr. Atwine said. Speaking on the Morning at NTV show, Dr. Atwine says they are…

For almost two years Parliament has been at logger heads with the executive over the long awaited National Social Security Amendment bill 2019. But the Wednesday parliamentary sitting chaired by Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga saw the…

By: Naya Bala So it is almost a year now, ever since the rumor began. Yes, the rumor of a Jazz-Fameica kind of situationship. I swear there is like a thousand pictures of these guys scattered across the web, some of which are, objectively, very very cozy. Yet, in spite of all of this, Lydia Jazmine still vehemently denies any romantic involvement between herself and the rapper. So here is my prognosis of the situation; either they are playing us for fools, or there is something else going on here. Because, first of all, as a rule of thumb, there is never smoke…
