Uganda’s Independent Electoral Commission (EC) has been undertaking the exercise of General Update of the National Voters’ Register in light of the forthcoming 2020/2021 General Elections. The exercise, which began on Thursday 21st November 2019, was scheduled to close tomorrow, Wednesday 11th December 2019. “However, due to higher numbers of applicants at the update centers since the beginning of this week, and requests from key stakeholders in the electoral process, the Electoral Commission has found it necessary and taken a decision to extend the update period, which was scheduled to close on Wednesday 11th December 2019, for five (5) more…
The battle against the tuition increment at Makerere University is going to bring out all the dirt there is against Uganda’s premier institution of higher learning. Like they say in Luganda, “katandika butandisi.” The latest our snoops have picked from the struggle is that the university that is crying over low income, budgeted a whooping 100M for tea in the main building alone in 2016. Hilarious? We think not. According to Godwin Toko, a Lawyer in Kampala, who was a Guild Representative Councillor (GRC) representing the School of Law then, the university administration pushed forward and approved a budget for…
RE: UPDATE ON THE LIST OF OUR DEMANDS Yesterday, Sunday 10th November, 2019, the Sunday Vision published a headline, “Makerere to Change Fees Structure Again.” The story followed a meeting between the University Administration and President Museveni. While we respect the meeting between the University Management and Council with the President, it will only be just for the Students Leadership, which is the major stakeholder in the impasse to interface with him prior to any further decisions he will thereon make. The Makerere University impasse is generational, and is bound to affect millions of Ugandan families. In the meantime, we…
On Saturday last week, the president of the republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a meeting with Makerere University top administrators and the university vice chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe at State House Nakasero. Amongst what was discussed, the president ordered the top administration to compare tuition being paid at the institution with all other public universities in the region and come up with a reasonable tuition policy. He also added in that it’s not good to use students tuition money to pay lecturers because they are government workers hence have to be paid by the government. According to the…
If you have been at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) before then you have definitely met the legendary Menopause. The 27 year transporter is still executing his duties so well. Menopause is often seen transporting students to Kihumuro campus on a daily despite the Campus having a new bus and other mini-buses. Menopose is driven by a one Baker and parks at the MUST main campus while not on duty. While talking to one of the students at the Mbarara based institution, so much praise was heaped on Menopause. They even believe the bus might be here for…
The belief that “No Western Ugandan artist can hold a successful concert at Agip Motel” is now no more. That ain’t the biggest thing though. The huge story is that Ray G’s concert was more than just successful from the organisation, stage, lighting, sound system, promotion, performances among others. Ray G announced his “Ray G Live in Concert” date in May, gave enough time to marketing it, engaged DJs, bloggers and media houses, looked for sponsors and in return we can see the harvest. Thumbs up to the performers that graced the event including; Spice Dina, Levixone, Ykee Benda, Shine…
The 2019 edition of the Makerere University Alumni Run has massively flopped, our snoops can confirm. The run that is organised by the university every year as a form of fundraiser has registered its lowest turn up since inception – about 3 years ago. According to students our reporter interviewed, there was very little excitement surrounding the activity this year since even within the students themselves, organisation was too low and some didn’t even know it was happening. The chief runner this year was former Chancellor Prof Mondo Kagonyera and we are told he only accepted the responsibility to save…
He who finds a wife, finds a good thing. So they say but it seems not the case for Dr. Hamza Ssebunya who has, in recent weeks, been a topic of discussion in the entertainment spheres as Rema Namakula’s new catch. Rema broke up with her longtime lover Eddy Kenzo, with whom she has a daughter, to settle with her doctor Dr. Hamza Ssebunya and preparations to introduce him to her parents are in order for the ceremony slated for November. Ssebunya, who is a medical doctor, had another wife before he met with Rema Namakula and that seems to…
Makerere University have reinstated Elias Nuwagaba, the former personal assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. Nuwagaba has spent close to two years (17 months) out of university service following his dismissal on May 23rd, 2018 by the University Appointments Board for alleged extortion and bribery. However, the university Human Resource Director, Richard Mugisha reinstated Nuwagaba in a September 10th, 2019 letter and deployed him as the Chief Custodian of the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology – CEDAT. He says the decision to reinstate Nuwagaba stems from the 602 and 604 University Appointments Board meetings held on…
An unidentified reveller at this year’s Nyege Nyege festival surprised many when he could not hold back his “tu-water” after thoroughly dry humping a bummy chic he met at the festival. The oversize gentleman could not hold back after the chic went down on her arms and spread her sumbie all over his groins. Of course other revellers were cheering on thinking everything is fine but it was not in his pants.
