Acclaimed singer and now arguably one of the most loyal National Resistance Movement (NRM) progeny, Moses Ssali also known as Bebe Cool, has called out Bobi Wine and the Electoral Commission for their hypocrisy regarding the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for campaigns.

The singer-turned-political mobilizer lashed out at both parties in a post via his Facebook page which read;

“Wow, and you will see them on all political TV shows and radios discussing Bebe Cool’s processions while EC is just looking on this”

The singer highlights the flouting of the COVID-19 guidelines by presidential aspirant and longtime musical rival, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, who has on several occasions referred to Bebe Cool’s non-scientific rally in Arua to attack the police and defend his mass campaign rallies.

Bebe Cool is currently embarking on a door-to-door campaign strategy on behalf of the NRM and has on several occasions been snapped kneeling down before locals offering them NRM T-shirts and begging for their votes.

This has come under extreme public scrutiny with many accusing the singer for ‘stooping so low’ given his musical discography and legendary status in the eyes of Ugandans.

Bobi Wine has several times called out the double standards of Police saying they let Museveni’s people like himself hold mass rallies but block him from holding any procession of his own.

In a statement dated November 25th 2020 by the African judges under their professional association of Africa Judges and Jurists Forum (AJJF), which was accessed by The Ugandan Wire, the jurists also strongly condemned the double standards of Police.

“The campaign of President Museveni and his National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, has extensively violated these same rules (SOPs). Processions led by Bebe Cool’s pro-NRM musicians, the President’s campaigns in Arua, Nebbi and other areas of West Nile and the processions organized in Acholi Sub-region and Kotido by supporters preceding the President’s arrival were beamed on television. These clearly showed unmasked, overcrowded supporters in a carnival like environment,” the statement read in part.
