With opposition stalwart Dr. Kizza Besigye having opted out of the 2021 polls citing the credibility of the process, current Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Wasswa Birigwa have expressed interest to run for president on the party ticket.
As the picking of presidential forms at FDC headquaters entered the second day, Besigye arrived at Najjanankumbi on Wednesday amid an air of excitement and was welcomed by an elated group of his supporters.
Armed with placards bearing the his image youth demanded that the 4 time presidential candidate to contests again.
While appearing at FDC headquarters the FDC youth protested and requested that Dr. Kizza Besigye picks nomination forms. Youth were heard saying that they’re banyivu (angry) and they believe the 4 time presidential candidate is the only candidate that can give FDC the chance to win the 2021 election.
However there was sanity at the when Col. Kizza Besigye told the rowdy crowd that he will not pick forms put was rather was opting for plan B which is activism.
Elsewhere Patrick Amuriat Oboi the current FDC president is expected to tussle it out with the veteran party national chairman Wasswa Birigwa as the FDC seeks to get someone to hold the party’s flag in the 2021 presidential elections.
In a statement that first appeared on the Facebook wall of National Female Youth MP, Anne Adeke, Mr. Amuriat, commonly known as POA said that he will be picking nomination forms for the FDC flagbearer on Wednesday, ready to run for President.
The two are expected to go through party primaries where one will be elected to carry the party’s flag in the 2021 elections.
