With lockdowns and curfew currently suffocating the world, many a people have resorted to sex to keep themselves entertained and away from boredom.

A new scientific study has however revealed that having sex could spread coronavirus, and advised that couples endevour to take COVID-19 preventative measures even in intimacy.

The couples have been warned to avoid kissing, shower before and after sex, and even go as far as wearing masks while having sex. The researchers from world renown Harvard University have ranked different sexual circumstances based on how likely one is to catch the virus while doing them.

The scientists ranked abstinence and masturbation as ‘low risk’ sexual activities, while sex with people within a household, and sex with people from other households were ranked as ‘high risk’ activities.

“For some patients, complete abstinence from in-person sexual activity is not an achievable goal. In these situations, having sex with persons with whom they are self-quarantining is the safest approach. Those unable to take this approach may benefit from risk reduction counseling, which has proven effective in other realms of sexual health.” The researchers wrote in their study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Another senior medical expert, Veerawat Manosutthi, of the Thai Disease Control Department, recently advised that patients who have overcome COVID-19 should avoid getting intimate for 30 days.

“Those who believe themselves to be free of the virus should use condoms when having sex. Kissing should also be avoided as it is also known that it can spread through the mouth.” Manosutthi is quoted to have said.

His advice is apparently based on a study (also concluded recently) that some men have traces of the virus in their semen.
