The Police raid on National Unity Platform (NUP) offices today, we have learned, was also meant to have the Party Chairman and 2021 Flagbearer Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine arrested as well but the Police don’t know how he disappeared.
According to our sources at the Kamwokya based party headquarters, the People Power Movement Principal as he is fondly referred to was at the offices early today morning meeting party leaders ahead of the planned nationwide tour to canvass votes for NUP flag bearers across the country.
When suddenly, Military Police Officers cordoned off the area, the NUP Principal suddenly disappeared and was nowhere to be seen. The Police reportedly broke into doors at the offices and confiscated Party Documents, People Power Red Berets, T-Shirts and Posters meant for political activities of the party ahead of 2021.
According to People Power Movement’s official twitter handle, a senior Police Officer commanding the raid was overheard over the phone reporting to a superior that the man was nowhere to be seen.
In a statement on his social media, Presidential Aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi criticised the “partisanship” that the Security Forces displayed by raiding an opposition party office ahead of the 2021 election.
“The military and police just raided our head office in Kamwokya. They have broken into offices and taken away valuable documents and other items. Some comrades have been injured. The partisanship of security agencies ahead of the election is stinking.” He said.
