The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has started carrying out
temporary repairs on the Kabale – Kisoro road at Hakagyezi in Hamurwa Sub County, Rubanda District, which has been in an appalling state.
The road that connects Uganda to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at Bunagana border and to Rwanda at Kyanika border had become impassable at Hakagyezi due to deep and huge potholes that are filled with water.
The UNRA Spokesperson Allan Ssempebwa Kyobe told our reporter on Monday that the works to repair the road will commence by the second week of November.
However, speaking to our reporter today on the phone, Ssempebwa said that they have decided to start temporary works on the road after getting funds that he declined to disclose. He said that the works will include filling
deep potholes with murram and opening of some filled up drainage lines on
the road.
