Uganda has hit the 198 mark of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections after Health officials confirmed 23 more cases yesterday.
In a tweet by the Ministry of Health, a total of 1,187 tests were carried out and out of these 851 were truck drivers while 336 were from local communities.
“Today, 23rd May, 2020, 23 more COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, the total of confirmed cases are now 198. Of these, 19 were truck drivers who arrived through the Elegu and Busia boarder, while four cases were contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers” the ministry said.
The ministry substantiates that the four had been under quarantine by the time of testing. The 38 confirmed truck drivers were returned back to their countries since the president, in one of his orders explained that foreign truck drivers that are found positive shall be handed over to their mother countries.
The total of positive cases rises to 198, a minus 2 margin to make 200 cases where as 68 have so far fully recovered from the virus since the first case was reported.
