Ranking Web, known to many as Webometrics, an organisation that ranks higher academic institutions, this week released rankings of the top universities in Africa and the world at large which sparked buzz on the internet.
As the debate for which universities top the national rankings still ignites on, The Ugandan Wire has exclusively filtered the long-list and evaluated the top ten universitites in Uganda just for you, basing on the Webometrics data.
There have been some bit of gains and setbacks for some universities as compared to an earlier list released by the same ranking organisation earlier this year in January.
Fast forward to the point, Makerere University and Mbarara University of Science and technology (MUST) maintained their positions, 1st and 2nd respectively, in the country.
However, the 3rd spot has had some serious changes, as Kampala International University (KIU) has overtaken Kyambogo University by storm for this very spot.
Kyambogo now falls in the 4th position. Popular Mukono-based Uganda Christian University (UCU) improved from 9th to 8th position in the latest rankings.
