The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga Road faction led by Dr. Kizza Besigye, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, and Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, is in the finals stages of establishing a new political party.
This follows a political disagreement between those inclined to Dr Kizza Besigye and those led by Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Nandala Mafabi.
The disagreements have also led to “a decision to dissolve the FDC altogether.” Saying it reasoning that it no longer serves it’s purposes.
The Katonga faction officially submitted an application to reserve a name, symbol, and colors for the new party to the Electoral Commission.
They asked the Electoral Commission (EC) to reserve the name “People’s Front for Freedom” and a symbol of a mobile phone for the envisaged political party.
They have also proposed to adopt royal blue and white as the official colours.
This move marks a crucial phase in formalizing their political aspirations following ‘irreconcilable differences’ within the FDC.
