The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Uganda and South Sudan sixth (6th) edition of the Uganda Social Media Conference slated for 25th and 26th, August 2021 is promising not-to-miss panel discussions after speakers for the two-day conference were unveiled.
The conference that will run under the theme “Digital democracy in a Post Pandemic World” will be hosted at Sheraton Kampala Hotel but broadcast on TV and online for the audiences and the general public.
The Ugandan Wire has established that Day One of the conference will feature a Keynote speech from Dr. William Tayeebwa, the former head of department of Journalism and Communications at Makerere University and will also cover topics on; Digital Diplomacy: The rise of algorithms and implications for big tech in African Institutions, Governments, and Individuals, Impact of social media on mental health: Hitting the pause button, Re-framing the climate change agenda on social media, Citizen journalism vs digital newsrooms: Building a consensus for new media, and Social media & Elections in Africa.
Under the Digital Diplomacy topic, KAS has lined up the star-studded panel consisting of Ms Neema Iyer (a technologist and founder of Pollicy), H.E Adonia Ayebare (Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Nations) and Awel Uwihanganye (the former Director of the Government Citizen Interaction Centre – GCIC and Founder LeO Africa Institute). These will be joined by Moses Owiny, the ED of the Centre for Multi-Lateral Affairs Uganda.
The 6th edition of the Uganda Social Media Conference is intended to promote the exchange of ideas, networking, and collaboration on the above topics and more for citizen engagement, political campaigning, misinformation, political polarization, populism, e-Government, smart cities, among others.

- From the registration portal, enter the required details and click ‘Register’.
- An email will be sent to your registered email and it will contain the ‘Webinar ID’ and ‘Password’ for the event.
