The Minister of Education (MoE) and First Lady Janet Museveni has suspended any form of online examination by institutions of learning.
She revealed this, in her pre-recorded speech that was aired on some of the local stations today evening.
The first lady noted that her ministry has received complaints about some universities doing online examinations during the pandemic. This is a follow up to a string of complaints that have been levied against take home exams by Uganda Christian University (UCU) that have been a center of debate in parliament and online.
“We have received several complaints and concerns that some universities are forcing students to pay for and do online examinations, during this period, yet quite a number of our students do not have the required facilities and the money to do this” she stated.
“We have therefore decided that all these examinations be suspended until we are out of this crisis” stopping any institutional exams.
In her clear message, though not specifically directed to any institutions in particular, it seems to have been a stab to the online examinations/Take Home Examinations of UCU that were scheduled to take place on Monday next week, 6th April.
The exams are suspended until semester re-opens.
